I confess. One of my favorite guilty pleasures has always been reading Young Adult novels. Truth be told, I still live in a Neverland-ish kind of world. Consequently, my imagination goes places I couldn’t possibly conjure up by myself. With every new story, I step into an imaginary world and let the adventure take me away wherever it may go.
Darren Shan’s vampire kingdom, Phil Pullman’s armoured bears and air balloons, Cassandra Clare’s demon fested New York, these are my favorite places to go and wander.
On May 23th 2017 Cassandra Clare, mother of the Shadowhunters’, will bring us the next chapter of The Dark Artifices. In celebration of that, here is a list of five young adult novels that you should read right now
THE LORD OF SHADOWS BY CASSANDRA CLARE
First of all, get acquainted with The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices. While I travelled through Australia these novels were my obsession. I would buy a new book and finish it in two days. Sadly, the maximum weight on my shoulders could not keep up with all of the different chapters. As a result all of my brand new copies are most likely still scattered along the East Coast of Australia.
But that’s okay. Sharing is caring.
Time to hop on over to the third installment; The Dark Artifices.
In Lady Midnight we meet Emma Carstairs and her parabatai Julian Blackthorne in sunny Los Angeles. Falling in love with your parabatai – a lifelong fighting partner- is strictly forbidden for Nephilim. And of course, the two of them fall madly in love with each other.

CARVE THE MARK BY VERONICA ROTH
Remember Veronica Roth‘s futuristic version of the city of Chicago in her hit trilogy Divergent?

For someone who grew up in Cornwall, the capital of myth and fantasy, Laure Eve brings a enchanting first novel.
